Celebrating Hope, March 19-25, 2012
St. James UCC will once again be participating in the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days. This year’s Daffodil Days will take place March 19-25, 2012.
Celebrating Daffodil Days is much more than enjoying beautiful flowers; it’s about sharing hope for a world free of cancer. Contributions to Daffodil Days will allow the American Cancer Society to save more lives and create more birthdays by helping people get and stay well by finding cures and by fighting back. Over $1,017.00 in daffodils have been sold to support the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days program this year.
A Memorial Candle Lighting Ceremony in memory of Harriet Rineer, Paul Postell, Dick Fetterman, Sr., and Melvin Brunk, the four St. James members who have lost their fight to cancer since last year’s Daffodil Days, will be observed. Also, the re-dedication of 32 St. James cancer survivors is planned.
As in the past, St. James will integrate this event into the church service on Sunday, March 25. Please mark your calendars. This service is always one of hope and inspiration for cancer survivors, caregivers, and anyone who has been affected by cancer. The theme for this year’s service is The Thread of Life. Jane Frain, a representative of The American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Program, will be our guest speaker.
A heartfelt THANK YOU is extended to everyone who supports Daffodil Days each year. We also extend our thanks to Joy Rubeo and Mae Mogel for making this meaningful experience possible, especially for all survivors and caregivers.
