Worship and Music

Each Sunday at 10:15 am (9:15 in the summer) St. James UCC gathers for worship. While the church consists of many programs and activities, this is the heart of community. Our inspiring sanctuary, built in 1964-65, provides a beautiful setting for worship. Music plays an important role at St. James UCC. Although the service is liturgical in structure, the feeling is warm, intimate and open. Persons of all religious backgrounds are warmly welcomed and often worship at St. James.

Children are also an important part of the life of St. James — including our worship. While nursery care is provided for all services, children are included in our worship. After the opening part of each service, children are invited to come down and gather on the chancel stairs with the pastor. There, she talks directly with the children, often using props and sharing stories that relates to the theme of the day. After this, the children are invited go to Children’s Church, where they have a time of sharing, crafts and Christian Education.

So, if it’s been a while since you’ve shared in worship, do come to visit St. James. It’s small enough to be friendly, yet large enough to provide a beautiful setting for worship. Our service is very “user friendly” and easy for first-time visitors. And, the sermons are not only “good news,” but they are designed to relate to the issues we face in everyday life. Come be refreshed and renewed. You’ll be glad that you did!
